Pranayam - Rules and Precautions for pranayam.

While practicing Pranayams one should take care of following things:-
  • Select a clean and peaceful place for doing Pranayama. If possible, choose a place near a clean pond or river.
  • The sheet or cloth (cotton or wool etc.) on which you sit must be a non-conductor of electricity. You should not directly sit on floor or gound.
  • The cloths should not be very tight. They should be comfortable.
  • The best time to do pranayam is early morning after finishing daily routine acts like cleansing mouth, emptying of bowels etc.
  • If done in the evening Pranayama should be done after 3-4 hours of taking any food. It should always be tried to empty your bowls before pranayam practice.
  • At whatever time you do, but try to maintain the same routine of time daily to get the maximum benfit of Pranayam.
  • Keep your mind calm and composed. However, Pranayam can also calm down the disturbed mind and keep one happy.
  • If you feel fatigued in the course of doing Pranayam , rest for sometime and then begin deep breathing, which will remove the fatigue.
  • Pregnant women, hungry persons, persons suffering from fever and those who are lustful having no control on their passions should not do Pranayam .
